I was working at installing the new release of Linuxcnc as a test on a machine. I'd like to make a couple of suggestions for small improvements that could be added to the next release.
1, install the software for taking screenshots by default. Sometimes a screen shot of what is going on can be a big help when trying to support someone having problems. 2. Add the Linuxcnc repos for installing the RTAI kernel and version Linuxcnc to the repository list (but with them disabled/ commented out). So far I have not noticed any stability issues with the new Buster RTAI kernel. The test machine has been running it for about a week, with numerous shutdowns and restarts, but no lock-ups, yet on an Atom D2700 machine. But I am disappointed that 32-bit support was dropped. That will orphan one of my machines, that has already been stuck on Ubuntu 10.04, and will require replacing its old ISA interface card with something more modern when upgrading it's old 32-bit pc.
