Normal spur gears will do this too if the tooth shape is wrong. To get the tooth shape correct you either have to understand some math or copy a correctly designed gear. It could be that the designer got the shape of the cycloid gear wrong. If so you can't use his STL files even if your printer is perfect. But you can borrow his idea for your own design.
