For what is lts worth you can get a 2500ppr encoder for 30usd from my servo
supplier.

Or a a 5000ppr.

Or you can go absolute.  And get a 130000 something ppr encoder.  They are
about 70usd I think

I think it's 17bit.  But would have to check
