Greetings Peter;

Is there any way I can use pwmgen.00 in a 5i25-7i76 lashup while
using
stepgen_3 for a B axis?

If you only use 4 axis total, yes, there is firmware that uses
the 7I76's stepgen4 outpus for PWM/DIR

Or do I have to use a pwmgen module, software IOW, and feed it to a
gpio. This will make me use a much lower frequency. I had plans to
use 4 kilohertz because I can't hear that due to Carhart notches
120+db deep in both ears.

I only need 1 pin, the pwm output. No use of a dir for air
compressing.

Thank you Peter.

Yes you would want a 5i25_7i76x1pd firmware. I see the source but
the
bitfile is not on the distribution. This firmware replaces stepgen 4
outputs with PWM 0 outputs:

Note that you may need to choose the -step output and invert the PWM
to get a PWM output that is low at startup or watchdog bite and has
the desired polarity

Okaayy.

Further playing, I've also enabled pwmgen.01, moving the enable and
value settings to it, but I still can't find its outputs, which s/b
on the BOB beside the 7i76. Where does its output go?. That zip
has been installed on both of these 5i25-7i76 combo's.

The output is on 7i76's Stepgen 4

5I25 P3 (DB25) 7I76 stepgen 4 step/dir = PWM 0 PWM/dir
5i25 P2 (HDR26) 7I76 Stepgen 4 step/dir = PWM 1 PWM/dir

Humm, can't see a signal

You can verify this with:

sudo mesaflash --device 5i25 --dbname1 7i76 --dbname2 7i76

unknown option --dbname1 It also locked up the quit and I had to reboot
that box.

My mesaflash must be too old, link to new one?
