For easy LinuxCNC integration I think that the sensible choices are
either Glade + Gtk or QT.

I don't know much about QT, but Plasmac made a shift to QT from whatever it
was first written in, so must have something going for it.

For a custom GUI, though, it might make sense to start with Gscreen which
is a LinuxCNC UI designed for customisation, this means that the
infrastructure is already in place to be a LinuxCNC GUI, you just need to
modify the user-facing side to suit your task.
