I just checked with my Fluke Multimeter and measured 242.1 V as my
current mains voltage.
Thank you!
So in the meantime I already received 3phase rectifier bridge and 400V
4700uF capacitor. It should give around 2V ripple. Is that ok?
2 volts of ripple S/b be fine, Viesturs.
PS: However, I would scope it under a moving machine load. More than 10
volts of ripple under load would make me want to add more of the 4700
uf's in parallel. Also the ESR of a single 4700 uf would make me want to
see a snapshot of that ripple. If you can, PM it to me since since a
screenshot will be bigger than John allows on the list. Thanks.
Thank you! I could try that but it is going to take a while to wire
these things and actually sort out the config and get the motors
working.
Do you mean using HalScope (IIRC 8i20 reports bus voltage) or should I
get an actual oscilloscope.
Viesturs
I would prefer a camera screenshot from a calibrated real scope. At
around 400 volts the probe s/b a 100x probe as a lengthy connectivity
with a std 10x probe might affect the calibration of a pricey 10x probe.
The fawncy non-inductive film resistors commonly used in those probes
has a max voltage rating of 50 to 75 volts. I had to destroy a couple
tek 10x probes to learn that 50 years ago. I was chasing an intermittent
video problem in an RCA TT25DL transmitter, and the point I was
monitoring was the modulator output, sitting about 375 volts below
ground. Ooops. But it lasted long enough to find a .1uf Goodall brand
600 volt paper cap that was not all good all the time. Halscope is
handier and might be ok. If the bandwidth is not enough, then we'll ask
for the real thing. I've no clue what you have to work with in your
field kit, so send the halscope version when you get far enough along to
move the machine under power.
Thanks Viesturs.
