you recon it's the 5i25 or mother board

Any noisy weather since it just worked? Possibly a passing thunderstorm has surged thru a non-single point ground system, blowing something on the mobo or the 5i25.

Can you put the 5i25 in a different slot? if it works then its the mobo, if not its the 5i25. In any event, get ALL the intermachine grounding down to everything on a single grounding bolt with NO parallel connections anyplace else. Don't give a ground loop a chance to damage things. I don't care if a wayward strike bounces things half a million volts but the single point common ground will see to it, in the middle of the strike, the 5 volt line will still be only 5 volts above the ground line. I haven't lost anything in the 2 decades I've lived since learning that. Wired keyboards have tickled me, but no damage to my gear. Wireless keyboards and mice recommended by me.
