hey guys

just connecting my toolchanger up now and thinking on the best way to
control it

my main question is how can i move a step motor independently to the rest
of the axis so i can preload stuff ready for a quick toolchange.

i read the joints can be unlinked to the axis's and trajectory generator i
think
and possibly controlled with a limit 4 component which andy wrote.

this is the big change to joints in 2.8

https://forum.linuxcnc.org/38-general-linuxcnc-questions/35643-making-some-axes-independent-of-the-motion-controller?start=20

anyway let me know what you guys think.

I will just explain the rest of the toolchanger below for those interested.

there are three motors which i have changed to servos. to make things
reliable and controllable

i have a main magazine on the side of machine with 80 tools (3ton)

and then a tool transfer system to rotate the tools 90 degrees ready for
the tool

arm to swap tools in spindle.

to save time i definitely want to have the magazine preloading tools

i think i am currently going to use the carousel component for the
magazine. with step and direction to servo motor. which will allow
proloading mag easy with the tool prepare pins

and the actual toolchange arm i will control with classic ladder as its
just a state machine system

the tool transfer system i would like to be able to rotate 90 degrees back
and forth and then park it at 45 degrees in the parking zone

cheers

Andrew
