We use the Lenovo i5 often. The best way is to use the ISO. If the boot fails you make a USB stick with Gparted ISO on and delete all the partitions on the drive prior to installation.

The hard drive might be too small, as I think you need at least 4Gb.

I have heard of other members complaining about the 2.9.4 ISO not working. I use the 2.9.3 ISO and then do the update from there.
