My setting MAX_LIMIT = HOME_OFFSET was the culprit. Giving it a sensible HOME_OFFSET fixed it. Thanks for all your replies! Much appreciated. X and Z limit switches are now installed and working. The Y limit is what I'll do next. It will not give me any headaches, I suppose.
