I composed it in thunderbird then send it crypted to me.
The mail as received and as stored in the 'sent' folder translate the
utf8 chars in FF nn chars.

I don't know if it is related, but a non crypted mail with utf8 chars in
it has in the header:

Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit

(no idea where the charset comes from !)

and the same mail crypted

X-Enigmail-Version: 1.5
OpenPGP: id=933EF904; url=http://les-autres.com/antoine.asc
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1
Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable

and in the pgp header:

Charset: ISO-8859-1 Version: GnuPG v1.4.11 (GNU/Linux)
