If a "prominent MUA" cannot deal with PGP/MIME, please name it explicitly, so we can pressure its vendor or authors to fix it (or, in the case of free software, so we can fix it ourselves). I'm unaware of any prominent MUA in 2013 that cannot deal with PGP/MIME. There may be other reasons to avoid PGP/MIME (i am not trying to start another flamewar), but today "prominent MUAs" are not among them. > Well, that's normal. Plaintext mails just cannot have inline images. This is not the case:

MIME is compatible with inline images and text, as you can see from me
staring out at you creepily above.
Note: i do not know how to make thunderbird (with or without enigmail)
generate messages with this structure, but it will display them properly
as far as i can tell.

I know this is tongue in cheek, but not everyone does; and i live in a
society that seems to think this phrase in general means something bad.
I think it's probably not a good idea to use this term in association
with free software.
Sorry to be a wet blanket.
