Yes, you are right, that does not make much sense.

So, the problem is only present when Enigmail is activated and when there
are encrypted emails in an account (and then it is only present for this
account). Whether OpenPGP-support is activated for that account does not
make any difference.
I did some additional experimenting, and it is getting weirder and weirder.
I activated OpenPGP for a second account and tested with that one, at first
it was working. Then after changing the authentication method from normal
password to encrypted password, no notification any more. So i thought i
had found the cause and changed the authentication method for my other
account from encrypted password to normal password - still no notification.
Any ideas?
