That of course landed me right back where I was. I don't think I'm going to be able to fix this. Thunderbird downloaded from mozilla's site blows up with some weird "XPCOMGlueLoad error" which seems to point to dependency hell (circular dependencies, shades of very bad old RPM days) within AUR for xcb packages.
