I'm testing with Daily 23.0a1 (2013-04-12) and enigmail nightly 1.6a1pre (20130412-2004) on Mac OS X and it works fine. What's the exact version of Enigmail? What does the Thunderbird error-console (Tools -> Error-Console) say?
