When writing the GnuPG FAQ, I received more flamemail about this than
any other subject. Honestly, it reached a point where I put my head in
my hands and gave serious thought to abandoning the endeavor.

What I have always found interesting about the debate is that there
seems to be an overwhelming feeling on the part of PGP/MIME advocates
that it is the One Right Way To Do Things. I've never understood that
zeal, but I do have a sort of respect for it. :)
In a sense I wish that the current state of the art included better
support for PGP/MIME, as it is in many ways a more elegant solution. But
as you pointed out Robert, we have to deal with the world as it is.
