Ludwig, it's not appropriate to bully people into using PGP/MIME. The behavior Johannes is describing sounds very much like a bug to me, so it should be resolved.
Other than the current situation described in my signature below, I use in-line exclusively, including messages with long lines, and haven't run into the situation that Johannes describes. So clearly there is a solution, we just need to find it for him.
If you don't want to participate in that effort, that's fine, but let's not swipe the problem under the rug.
