This is an observation, not more -- although if it turns into a new thread, I hope someone will have the courtesy to give it a new subject. :) Enigmail is meant to make 90% of the job pretty easy, and it does a pretty good job of it. 90% is what we aim for. We don't aim for 100%, because if we insist on doing everything well we won't do anything well. Attaching a public key to a message is part of the 90%. Are there ways it could be improved? Probably yes, almost definitely yes. But the amount of labor and headache involved in it would take away time and resources from other things that need it more. Software engineering is the art of knowing when to say "no". And with respect to attaching public keys, well -- here's where Patrick's drawn the line. And frankly, I'm glad he's drawn it, because I've seen a lot of projects killed by an obsessive desire to be all things to all people.
