Good point, I did see a potential stumbling point with the blur between
"key trusted" and "owner-trust trusted" in Enigmail, but I believe I'm
just focusing on owner-trust in the Enigmail Key Management window.

I believe the Display Untrusted Keys setting filters for Owner Trust
based on the following observations. If the filter means something else,
please let me know. That could be the source of my confusion.

There are many keys I've signed in my keyring which say Key validity:
trusted and Owner trust: unknown in the Enigmail Key Properties window
(and say trust: unknown; validity: full in the gpg --edit-key output).
None of these keys appear in the Enigmail Key Management list when I
uncheck Display Untrusted Keys in the view menu.

A signed key I tested changing Owner-trust from unknown to trusted using
Enigmail with was initially in this state. It did not show up when
"Display Untrusted Keys" was unchecked until I set owner trust. Perfect.

There were also a few keys not signed with my default-key in the list of
(owner) trusted keys in Enigmail. They /were/ set with owner trust of
trusted. I changed that to "I don't know" (unknown) using Enigmail.
Enigmail and GnuPG agree the value has been changed but they still are
in the list of "trusted keys".

I changed the signed and trusted key back to "I don't know" (unknown)
and it also stays in the list of "trusted keys" in the Enigmail Key
Management window.
