Appears to be a gmail app bug: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/gmail/2HpQGwj9R20 Even though you can certainly save encrypted and/or signed drafts to the gmail drafts folder, I would personally suggest you just change the location of saved drafts for all your accounts to the Local Folder. By doing this you'll simply avoid the problem altogether. I personally do this as a "best practice" and change all my accounts to save drafts to the Local Folder, but that's more gmail privacy humbuggery on my part.
