Thanks. I found a way to work around it now, by making a symlink from
d:\msys64\home\jw\.gnupg to the default homedir location
(%appdata%\gnupg). However I am absolutely sure my homedir was
previously valid, since both gpg on the command line and Kleopatra were
able to work with it. There may be some issue with Enigmail preventing
it from detecting the homedir correctly in some cases.

Anyhow, I am now able to read your signed emails in Thunderbird, and
sign emails myself! I suppose this solution is good enough :)
