Hey, guys. I was running e 16.6pre2, which I compiled myself, and it ran mostly fine. THen the pre3 was announced, and they provided an RPM, and I installed that.

Then I started to see many of the problems people were complaining about. Windows would pop up on other workspaces, sometimes they would be lost off of all workspaces altogether.

So I wondered "what if I recompile that RPM?" So I rebuilt the rpm and installed it, and VIOLA, no more random window placement.

So I'm thinking that there is some library dependency, and perhaps my system has something out of the ordinary, or perhaps the RPM builder has the same, and as a result, there is some trouble.

Is this possible?

In case you also see "window placement madness", I posted the RPM I compiled for comparison:

http://lark.cc.ku.edu/~pauljohn/software/Enlightenment/enlightenment-0.16.6pre3-0.18rh9.i386.rpm

Don't let the name fool you. This is from a rebuild of the exact same SRPM file that is on the E binary dist site. I just added in "pre3" there to avoid the risk that somebody might think there was a release.

Oh, and for the record, here are the editions of some parts of my toolchain:

imlib2-loader_jpeg-1.0.6-1
imlib2-1.0.6-1
imlib-1.9.13-12
imlib2-devel-1.0.6-1
imlib2-loader_png-1.0.6-1
imlib-devel-1.9.13-12
fnlib-devel-0.5-1

XFree86-4.3.0-2
XFree86-devel-4.3.0-2
