I did some testing. rox pinboard seems to only work on the active desktop. And, it obliterates the current background setting. and shelves. It does not seem to take over all desktops. I tried tweaking some of the rox options, such as "Override Window Manager control of pinboard and panels" but that caused the pinboard to become invisible and inaccessible. I think part of the problem is the way that E17 handles the root window. Anyway, there are two ways to start rox. One is in xinit or similar #!/bin/bash # start e17 with rox export DISPLAY=:0.0 rox -p test & startx [ /usr/local/e17/bin/enlightenment ] [ ] is for wherever you have e17 installed. Or, better for testing, open a terminal inside E17 and type # rox -p test and see what happens. If you lose all focus, simply open a rox filer window and hit Options and play around with compatibility. What you have highlighted is the need for E17 to have some kind of pinboard feature where icons can be stored on a desktop. If it had that, there would be no need for rox pinboard. Although an argument can be made that the rox filer is still the best out there for doing any kind of work! :) Thanks for making me take a closer look at this. -- Peter +++++ Do not reply to this email, it is a spam trap and not monitored.
