Firstly, can you load E17 as a user? If so, rox should run fine. Is your ROX version current? Version 2.5 is current. The Choices directory is no longer used by rox. It now uses ~/.config/rox.sourceforge.net/ROX-Filer/ Rox pinboard WILL obscure the shelf. It completely covers the root window. If you use ROX panel as well, the combination will work. If you are not seeing the pinboard, it may be related to the options. Open a ROX filer window (rox with no option). Right click in the filer and click Options/Compatibility. Make sure all the check boxes for compatibility are unchecked (except Panel is a dock) which has no bearing on pinboard. Then, open a terminal and type $ rox -p test and a gray screen should appear behind the terminal window with a Home folder at the top left. If this does not work, you either have an older ROX version, or your Options are not set properly.
