Hi Rasterman :)

I agree and I guess this is a problem for Ubuntu only. I don't like
Ubuntu, but I do like 64 Studio and they unfortunately changed from
Debian to Ubuntu. Anyway, Ubuntu seems to be the most used distro, so it
would be smart to take care of unexperienced users. I don't ask the
Ubuntu folks, but I bet that they would say, that it's not their job,
Ubuntu ships with GNOME and not e17.

An Advantage of Linux is that you can have several WMs/ DEs for your
installation, to fit the DE/ WM to your needs. One day you need a DE
that comes with a lot of right click service menus because of video
work, the other day you need a lightweight DE because of real-time audio
work. If one DE is expecting to be the only DE, resp. not taking care
about other DEs for the same Linux installation, it's not consonant to
the idea of Linux or even FLOSS.

It's invalid to expect users only to use one DE or one application for
special needs. Linux is designed to be customizable and it should become
customizable for any user, not only for a handful of computer nerds.

Cheers,
Ralf
