When you installed E17, you installed the modules already as part of
the system.  E-MODULES-EXTRA are as it says, extra modules that are
optional.  If you look inside the E17 src directory, you will find a
modules sub directory with the source for the modules, and you will
also find they are compiled as part of the process of compiling E17
itself.  You can install the EXTRA ones to, some of them are quite
nice.  Be warned that some of the EXTRA modules are experimental or not
working well.
