I reverted to svn rev 66121 on Debian, rebuilt using easy_e17.sh -i -s so as 
not to update sources. E starts perfectly. So, I don't know either, but at some 
point between 66121 and 66285, the svn builds have started to fail here as 
described earlier. I'll try this on my Arch setup later, but I suspect it will 
also work. This is amd64 hardware in case that might matter.

I'll be happy to test any ideas or suggestions.
