Didn't Enterasys/Cabletron used to offer blades with Telco style connectors so that the ports weren't actually on the chassis, but remote patch panels making cabling much easier? Maybe on the old SS6000's?

With a N7 orientation being vertical and a N3 orientation being horizontal we decided to use the side channels on the vertical cable manager to feed copper cables. Fiber is fed from the top. This setup allows access to fan trays and power supplies.
