What version of firmware are you running? This is our environment as
well, and we are not seeing the problems but are still running 7.41 we are
planning on moving to newer firmware soon, but this may have us wait it out a
bit more.
I can say we saw something very similar to this some time ago, and it
turned out to be a configuration accident that occurred where we accidentally
set an interface on two controllers to the same IP. The controllers did not
complain, and the clients periodically switched from one controller to the
other (depending on who answered an ARP request first). When they switched it
resulted in a disconnect. Reconnecting would re-establish with one controller
or the other and be OK. we basically figured it out by looking at the arp
tables of a connected laptop and a disconnected one (they didn't have the same
entry).

Jeff,
We have the same problem. Our Dell's (broadcom as well as intel cards) won't
stay connected. Ours drops way more than 1-2 times an hour. They seem to
disconnect less when using a SSID with PSK instead of RADIUS auth. Plz try it
and let me know if you get the same results.
This is really a problem for us since Dell laptops are the corporate standard
and there is no problems for users when they go to other locations using other
vendor wireless.
We are using all 2620's. i don't think the problem is in the AP. We have had
the RADIUS team look at logs when these drop. There are no 'disconnect'
instructions being sent from the RADIUS server.
We have a GTAC case open on the issue and were told it was going to be fixed in
the last release of firmware. We upgraded and are still seeing the problem.
I'll keep you updated on our case.
Reese

Subject: [enterasys] Dell disconnect from Hipath AP 2610
Hi
I seem to remember some time back about a thread that discussed the periodic
disconnect between Dell laptops and Hipath wireless gear.
We are running AP3610's and at one school seem to be experiencing an occasional
disconnect from the wireless network. A user can be in an area of great signal
strength and can lose the connection 1 or 2 times per hour. A quick disconnect
and reconnect establishes the connection again and all is fine.
The Dell laptops are using Broadcom wireless cards.
Anybody else run into this?
