Hi Mike,
sorry for not being clear enough - the Thunderbird patch is of course
only necessary when trying to use the CCK2 for importing certificates
into Thunderbird. Using MCD / AutoConfig directly will work without
patching. I just mentioned the patch as the original question was
whether the CCK2 could be used.

autoConfig works on Thunderbird, and the code I wrote here that uses

should work on Thunderbird.
If it were me, i would just use autoconfig.
What specific tweaks?
Also, as a side note, there is a separate thunderbird enterprise
discussion group (although I'm not a part of that).

Sure. Really, i need certificate import and some minor tweaks.
At least with Thunderbird 24 CCK2's certificate import didn't work,
and I'm pretty sure it still won't work in current versions: The
CCK2 is waiting for the "distribution-customization-complete" event,
which is never sent by Thunderbird (due to a modified merge of the
Firefox codebase).
The attached patch integrates the behavior also for Thunderbird.
Unfortunately this requires that you recompile Thunderbird yourself,
as I still didn't open a bug report for that...
Regards,
