Why not just continue with the Mozilla home-baked mechanism, thus remaining immune to any unexpected changes Microsoft may make to BITS in a future Windows ? The Mozilla mechanism does seem to work fairly well, with the possible exception of the strange phenomenon of some PCs being randomly, inexplicably and unpredictably much slower to receive a scheduled update than others - is the move to BITS anything to do with improving /that/ situation?
