I had the same problem, and the solution I found was a little drastic, but
it worked. I was also using a Palm III with Palm OS 3.3. Before starting
this process, be sure you've done you final synchronization between the Palm
and the Palm Desktop.
1) Go to Documents: Microsoft User Data: Office 2001 Identities and delete
the folder with the same identity name as the Palm, along with any other
identity folder.
2) Launch Entourage and import all Email and address book data from Outlook
Express. This will create a folder in the Office 2001 Identities folder
called Default User (I think).
3) Quit Entourage
4) Make a copy of that folder, and rename it to the same name as your
owner name on the Palm.
5) Launch Entourage, and select Switch Identity... from the File menu.
Choose the identity that matches your Palm.
6) Verify that the Entourage conduit specifies that all functions will
Synchronize with the Palm
7) Perform a standard Palm synchronization.
8) After cleaning things up in the Entourage Address Book, do a one-time
"Entourage overrides Handheld" synchronization with the Address Book
only. (At the end of this process, I had to do some clean-up work on
my Address Book because there were some duplicates between the
addresses from the Palm and those from the Outlook Express contact
list.)
All the interaction between the Palm and Entourage seems to work fine now.
I hope this is useful to others with this problem.
