Title: Re: winmail.dat files?
To add my 2 cents on this subject.  First of all, why has the MS Windows team decided to adopt a non standard and propriety email format such as MS Rich Text – plain text and HTML not good enough for them?  IMHO, just another example of MS (windows team) creating their own “standards” and because they have such a huge market share everyone else that uses real standards is made to suffer.

I was frustrated by this problem at my company until I found a very easy solution.  Contact your Exchange admin and they can make a small change (one check box) to the Exchange account to tell it to send HTML and Plain Text email to non exchange email addresses.

Doesn’t this sometimes not work if they are using an Exchange Server?  I know of at least one case where these always get sent regardless of the setting on the user’s machine.  I assumed there was some overriding setting on the server.

That’s what the TNEF’s Enough ReadMe said, too.
