People prefer to mouse with their dominant hand in most cases. Your
solution doesn't work at all for those of us who are left-handed. Although
we only make up something like 10% of the world's population (i.e. the next
step in human evolution ;-)), we are still a sizable minority and simply
telling us to mouse with our right hands is unacceptable. It's bad enough
we still can't (after years of asking) get the right-hand bigoted jerks at
Apple to put a Command (Apple) key on the right side of PowerBooks.

For the lefties out there:

You can use any number of key remapping utilities like I do to map a much
more easily accessible key like F9 through F12 to common application
functions like Save.

On my PowerBook, for every application:

F9  = New (cmd-N)
F10 = Open (cmd-O)
F11 = Close (cmd-W)
F12 = Save (cmd-S)

I also have F8 = Quit (cmd-Q), but it is F8 to be out of the way when
hitting the <delete> key so I don't mistakenly quit an app when my right
pinky slips off <delete> onto F12.
