I must strongly concur with Dave Cortright here. OS X is not even close to
shipping. You can't even stick any PCMCIA card into a laptop running ten
and have it work yet. There are a host of other types of hardware devices
that don't work with ten yet either.
I know from personal experience running a team of developers trying to write
hardware drivers for ten that the kernel still isn't fully cooked yet and
needs more simmer time. They won't ship ten until the kernel is rock solid
and that won't happen anytime soon.
My prediction? Apple will announce beta 2 at MacWorld in January and it'll
be April at the earliest, probably May (think WWDC) before it ships and
it'll be three to nine months after that (i.e. this time next year) before
all the most popular apps run smoothly on ten.
