Once you set the columns in a folder, any subfolders you create within it
(and in them, etc. etc.) will show the same columns by default. So if you
had managed to get to that part of the online Help which tells you this
before creating your top-level folders, you could have had them all how you
like from the beginning. Now you'll have to change your present folders
individually but any new subfolders you make in future will be how their
parent folder is set.
