personally, I often felt that HyperCard gave the original designers of the
web the idea behind the web - "like Hypercard, except spread out..."

Yeah, Apple has a great history to invent great technology, and when it's
really popular to abandon it - which is part of Apple's (old) cause for
their fall (even though that fall took 10 years to happen).

Boy, you really must hate HyperCard to wish that upon it.. Why do you want
to hoist the morons from FM onto something good like HC?

Dude, now there's an incredible idea - in fact, given HC's background, it
would be sooo easy these days to create just such a plug-in, or runtime
architecture that would allow HC to live on any platform.

Maybe someone should make it an opensource project.
