Not to compete with Paul's "Open Contact Name" script, but just because I
like my version a little more than his, here is another script that will
open up a contact's record from anywhere in Entourage. In certain instances
it is slightly faster than Paul's script; in others, slower. It has
different options than his. Give it a try and see what you like. It will be
available soon on AppleScript Central, and sooner, on my web site (URL
follows).

Sändi's Additions is used only when you attempt to select the names in the
Address Book; the usual options (open a single contact's record or make
several contacts into a group) do not use it. And, if you start with all
names visible in the Address Book (no filtering in effect), it is not needed
at all.
Version 2 adds several tweaks to speed things up, and adds a major option:
If your search finds more than a single contact, you are given the option of
choosing one from a list of the matching names (this is the new part, idea
borrowed from Paul's script), making the matching contacts into a group in
the address book, or selecting them all in the address book itself (which
you might want to do in order to delete them or to perform some other
operation on them). I also improved the matching logic. Before, if you
entered a compound first name such as "Mary Anne" the script assumed it was
a first and last name, and would not find a match. Now, it works. If no
match on first or last name is found, the script checks Company and Nickname
fields (this takes added time).
HINT: Fastest lookup is by typing the whole first and last name, e.g.,
"Allen Watson".
