Since I am just getting started on the Visor, I'm not sure what you are
talking about here but it sounds like it might be interesting. I don't have
Datebk4; just basic Date Book and Date Book+ that come with the Visor. My
journal script creates a floating, untimed or all-day event in Date Book+. I
see, however, that there is a command in DB+'s menu to create a journal
entry. I've just tried creating one for today, and I'll see how that
transfers back to Entourage.
I notice if I create a journal entry on the Visor, then reissue the command,
it appends to the existing file with a time stamp, which is great. I also
notice that even if you are displaying a date other than today and do the
journal command, it opens today's journal file; that seems appropriate. What
I am wondering is, if I create a journal entry on the Mac and sync that to
the Visor on the same day, will a journal command append to the note
transferred from Entourage, or will Date Book+ create its own journal note?
This will take some experimenting.
I'm also concerned with what may happen if I start a journal entry on the
Mac, then go away from my desk and do a journal entry on the Visor on the
same day, before synching. I doubt the software is clever enough to merge
the two entries! I hope I would end up with both; the worst would be that
the most recently modified overwrites the other, and I lose some data.
Anyhow, Jay; Would you explain what you mean by the category stuff? Is that
only in Datebk4? (My partner, Peggy, recommends something called Action
Names Datebook, and I am probably going to get that to be more compatible
with her.)
If you think it would be useful for other Datebk4 users (or users of other
date book Palm software), please share the relevant portion of your script
modifications.
