FWIW, all the issues that you bring up are dealt with in the standard for
MDNs and largely because many others feel more or less the same as you
about them. In particular, there is specific mention of a "deny" status (as
opposed to just ignoring the request) and a suggestion that it might be
prudent to allow this to be set as a default action.
Or, put another way, there is no reason why a specific implementation of
this spec shouldn't satisfy everyone's preference.
