Someone posted a message on some list I'm on, within the last day or two,
about an app (or applet?) that would insert an entry into the Finder's list
of apps, to force it to select the one you want. If I can find it again,
I'll reply again. Something about bundle bits...ah! I found it. Here is what
was said about making an app be chosen by the Finder when you have more than
one with the same creator code:

I have not tried this, and have no idea if it will work with an X app file.
