Sorry to post something totally off topic, but this list seems to have so
many really smart and knowledgeable people on it that I couldn't resist!
It's time to upgrade my Powerbook, before the next long trip, and I'm trying
to choose between the Ibook and the Tibook. The Powerbook, whichever it may
be, is my only computer (well, we do have an old SE, but I don't think we've
used it for anything except playing Tetris and occasionally looking at
things that are so old I don't have the apps on the PB). I travel a lot and
need to take all of my documents, etc with me, so it really works out best
to have just one computer for both at home and on the road. My research
suggests that the Ibook has the advantages of being less expensive, smaller
and having a built in combination DVD-CDR drive (I sometimes want to watch
movies, and often need to share long documents with others on trips, so
"need" both). The TiBook has the advantage of a bigger screen (but of course
that comes with the disadvantage of being bigger :-)), and is faster,
although I doubt that makes much difference for the sorts of things I do -
WP, email, spreadsheets, etc.
So, anyone have an experience with either of these newer Powerbooks and if
so, which do you recommend? (I did go try the Ibook at the local college
bookstore, and the keyboard seems okay for my relatively small hands :-),
but I couldnt' spend enough time on it to tell about screen size.
