I'm extremely happy all in all with my PowerBook G4. Rumor has it that
September or October will see the upgraded version, codenamed Onyx, and that
it *might* contain an internal CD-RW/DVD drive. However, all rumors are
untrue until proven otherwise.
Look at it this way: the iBook is a damn good machine; certainly in terms of
bang for the buck it beats the G4. In March the G4 clearly outpaced the
entry level systems, but the new iBook narrows the gap considerably.
If money is no issue, buy the G4; like me, you'll come up with reasons why
you're glad you have it. If money is your primary issue, buy the iBook;
it's good enough that you'll be very happy with it. If you're wavering,
download the G4 and iBook spec sheets and compare; G4's got some expansion
options the iBook doesn't. Decide if the differences are worth the money.
