I have been switching back and forth between OSW 9.x and 10.x and Entourage X has become unusable with no offer to help from Microsoft, blaming it on a bad message 'somewhere'.
Every time I try to check mail with E-X it crashes when it gets to a message that, whatever the problem, comes through fine with other mail programs. Microsoft Support has 'closed' the case (subject to my complaint, but I won't hold my breath) and written it off to a corrupt message. They dropped it with me and an unusable Entourage for X. I leave my messages on the server for a couple weeks so I can keep copies on my other machines, so messages aren't deleted immediately, so this phantom message still resides on the mail server. I can check my mail with E-9.x and Mail, but E-X dies every time I try. Any suggestions? The last part of my communication with MS follows: > Thanks for your response. Yes it sounds some strange that the message make > Entourage X crash but not Entourage 2001. But according to your description, > apparently the message does be corrupt. You may delete this message. > > I will go ahead and archive this case now. It's a pleasure to work with you. > > Best Regards, > > Chris > > Chris, > > A Rebuild does not help. Defining a new identity works only so far. It seems > that there is a message that crashes Entourage X (Not Entourage 2001) every > time Entourage X gets to it and I have no way to get past that message in OS > X. Entourage 2001 has never had such a problem and Entourage X is unusable as > is.
