Hello, I have just installed the Office v.X upgrade on my G4/733, and I have found some issues with its IMAP performance. I am hoping that perhaps there are workarounds that others have discovered.
1. Overall, it's very slow. Entourage 2001 was slow in all things IMAP, but v.X is even slower. For example, when I opened my "Sent Mail" folder for the first time, it was taking about one second per message to download just the header. With a few thousand message headers to receive, it seemed like an eternity to get the full message list. By contrast, Apple's Mail.app and Netscape 6.2 download about 50 message headers per second. 2. If I leave Live Sync turned on, there is nearly a half-second delay in all operations in Entourage. For example, if I click on a menu, there is a delay before it drops down. If I click on a scroll bar and start dragging, there is a half-second delay and the scroll bar loses its tracking with the mouse. I've turned Live Sync off for now, and the delay is gone, but I'm not sure what the consequences will be. Thanks in advance for any advice. I was looking forward to this upgrade since Microsoft was touting significant IMAP improvements, but this seems like a big step backwards. Does anyone from Microsoft monitor this list, by the way?
