Hello All. I have done my absolute best here, and I have seen others with the same problem on some boards, yet have never found a resolution - so, any thoughts here are greatly appreciated.
I have a repeatable issue on two different Macs a 733 Desktop and a Titanium 500 running 10.1.1 - though it also happened under 10.1. After I import Entourage 2001 into Entourage X, I can use the app for a bit with no problem. However, after import, the DB will not rebuild either under basic or advanced for Entourage X. (For importing itself to work I had to rebuild the 2001 DB first.) I have about a 90Meg DB under 2001 with about 1.9 Gig of Messages. I am POP'ing. As soon as the Entourage X application hangs for some reason or another requiring a force quit (four times it hung because of a large file attachment coming in - once it just hung on its own) - the app becomes unusable. The next time I would boot the app it says something like the "database is unusable would you like to rebuild"? After hitting "yes" it tries to rebuild, resulting in the following: Compacting Failed. Read/write error (-40) FYI - This is the same error that results even when trying to rebuild Entourage X even if it did not crash, and was usable (though slow). Now, strangely enough after the crash - this also affects the other office apps. After this occurs I try to load Word and get this alert: "Error loading Microsoft Framework X". The only thing I can do is run the uninstaller, trash EVERYTHING on the disk that is MS Office related and reload. If you don't find everything the framework X alert keeps showing up. I love OS X, love Office X, and with the exception of this problem, Entourage X is about the best App I have ever seen in this space. But after 5 tries I am really shy about making the move back. So I am unfortunately forced to stay on OS 9/Office 2001 since the longest I have been able to run Entourage X is about 6 days before it dies. Any ideas out there ... I am officially scared to run in OS X now, since I lose all my email, and cannot handle that. As a side thought - anyone know how to SU to root under OS X? I am thinking there may be some way to open more disk space to the App or something.
