I assume that you're speaking of them as a carry-over from Outlook Express
5.  Why weren't they "renovated" prior to Entourage.  OS 9 was released
prior to Entourage which is when the limits were raised.  Surely it wasn't a
surprise as Apple intimated that the file system would be changing for the
"better" with Apple Extended's release in the 8.x time-frame.

I don't ever remember seeing a reason for the mail store being changed to a
monolithic database.  Surely speed can't be the issue as I can find mail as
quickly in Eudora as Entourage even with tens of thousands of messages.
