I know, I know, I should have a backup. I thought I DID. I’ve been copying my “main identity” folder to another Mac, but not using it. Today I launched Entourage and the shiny ball kept spinning forever. So, I did a force quit, then a typical rebuild. The rebuild went through about 14,000 of my 16,000 plus mail items, then a dialog popped up saying that my database COULDN’T be rebuilt. I tried an advanced rebuild, which was successful, but now all my e-mail since 12/9/01 is missing!!
There are files named old database and old database cache. Is there ANY hope of recovering the missing mail?
Thanks for input from ANYBODY.
Don’t throw away the “old” database yet, until someone with more experience comes along. So, can’t you recover at least up until the last time you saved to your other mac? Or was the last time more than a year ago?
