You may want it, but it's not possible. So just forget about it.

True. I agree. You seem to be worrying an awful lot about this.

No. Just empty the cache  once a week or so and you'll be fine. Use the
"Specific header Newsgroups does not exist" to eliminate news messages from
custom views. Why are you so worried about this? Are you particularly short
of hard disk space? If you empty the cache every week or two you won't gain
more than 1 or 2 MB in your database file. Is that really such a big deal?
And don't bother to rebuild, since the new cache will just fill up the empty
space again - but won't increase the database size further.
