Does the existing US version of MSN Messenger for OS X properly handle
Japanese text in instant messages sent to other OS X and XP clients? If not,
will the Office X release in Japan be accompanied by a version of MSN
Messenger that will? And if so, will there be a way to download the Japanese
version of MSN Messenger separately?

I mention this because I've tried sending test messages between the latest
OS X and XP versions of MSN Messenger, and the Japanese text doesn't make
the trip without getting mangled. Sending Japanese text from the OS X
version to the XP version is unreadable because it doesn't appear to yield
the text in the correct font (even though I've selected a Japanese font and
the Japanese script within MSN Messenger), and messages sent in the other
direction end up as question marks in the OS X version.

So my quest for a solid cross-platform (OS X and Win32) Japanese-capable
instant messaging system continues. Perhaps Hildum-sensei will have some
suggestions in this area?

I apologize for the many questions and for taking this thread even further
off-topic. ;)

Best,

Justin
